Somethin' keeps him movin'
But no one seems to know
What it is that makes him go

Then the lights begin to flicker
And the sound is getting dim
The voice begins to falter
And the crowds are getting thin
But he never seems to notice
He's just got to find
Another place to play
Anyway
Got to play
Anyway
Got to play

Andy Timmons Versus Joe Satriani: Bluesy Duel

May 25, 2008

This doesn’t seem like a duel to me.  It looks more like a duet.  I like Andy Timmons’ tone in this video.  It sounds perfect to me.  Was that Andy’s Xotic BB Preamp?

Grace Potter and Joe Satriani: "Cortez the Killer"

May 22, 2008

Joe Satriani jams with Grace Potter et al on the classic Neil Young tune “Cortez the Killer.”  Sit back, relax and have a cold one.

The VOX Satchurator Distortion Pedal

Woohoo!  I can’t wait to try one out.  It took Mr. Satriani and the VOX R&D team about a year to develop the Satchurator pedal.  I hope it takes me less than a year to save up for one.  Hahaha.

Joe Satriani and Steve Lukather

April 19, 2008

Joe Satriani and Steve Lukather jam in what looks like a club.  Both play great, but if you listen to Satch, his tone lords it over Luke’s and cuts through the band despite being somewhat weaker in volume.  Not because one is better than the other (well, they belong to the same league — elite guitar wailers, I must say), but again, here’s proof of the importance of TONE.  It’s not the volume, don’t you think?  Is it the sound tech?  The device used to record this video?  Or are my ears playing tricks on me?
